Strengthening Ties: The Significance of Emmanuel Macron’s State Visit for Indonesia’s Strategic Partnership and Defence Industry

Summary

In our webinar, “Strengthening Ties: The Significance of Emmanuel Macron’s State Visit for Indonesia’s Strategic Partnership and Defence Industry,” we discussed how French President Emmanuel Macron’s upcoming state visit represents a pivotal moment in Indonesia–France strategic cooperation, particularly in the defence sector. As Indonesia works to modernise its armed forces, France has become a key partner of Jakarta through major acquisition deals like Rafale fighters and Scorpene Evolved submarines. In fact, the visit may also pave the way to further solidify and expand the partnership between the two countries.
