From Minimum to Essential Force: Modernising the Indonesian Armed Forces

The Minimum Essential Force (MEF) is part of Indonesia’s National Medium-Term Development Plan (RPJMN) and has been the guideline for the Indonesian Ministry of Defence’s to improve its defence posture since 2010. decision-makers are reportedly considering shifting from MEF to essential force (EF). Would the shift in terminology be substantial or merely a nomenclature change? How will it realistically affect Indonesia’s defence posture and domestic defence industry?
