Indonesian Military Modernisation: A Race Against Time
Categories :
DefenceSummary
In their latest article ‘Indonesian Military Modernization: A Race Against Time’, published on The Diplomat website, Andi Raihanah Ashar and Muhammad Fauzan Malufti argued that the Indonesian government is racing against time, with only two years to complete its Minimum Essential Force (MEF) Plan. With such a limited timeframe remaining, budget constraints and political uncertainties remain the main challenges for the government. In addition, Andi Raihanah and Fauzan Malufti also emphasised the urgency for the government to finance arms procurement contracts that have been signed in past years, while anticipating what will be the MEF plan successor to pursue National Armed Forces (TNI) modernisation post-2024.
