How Indonesia Can Improve Its Defence Investment Climate

In the recent article published by The Diplomat, our head of defence and research coordinator, Anastasia Febiola S., and research analyst, Muhammad Fauzan Malutfi, highlighted the urgency for the Indonesian Government to enforce the discussed and announced weapons procurement contracts to emphasise Jakarta’s commitment in modernising its armed forces. In addition, both of them also argued that amid the budget constraints that Jakarta is facing, it remains crucial to ensure that defence spendings could generate return on investment – as instructed by President Joko Widodo – and eventually contribute to the national economy.
