In her recent article published by Kompas, our research coordinator and head of defence, Anastasia Febiola S., highlighted PT PAL Indonesia’s recent achievement by being awarded a contract to supply Landing Platform Dock (LPD) for the Philippine Department of National Defence. This deal proves that local industry – such as PT PAL and PT Dirgantara Indonesia – has been able to benefit from offset or Transfer of Technology (ToT) programmes. Nonetheless, Anastasia added that to generate a healthy defence industry ecosystem, several aspects should be considered, including choosing the best offset/ToT programmes for domestic companies, as well as inclusivity by involving the private sector.
