In his latest article published by CNBC Indonesia, our defence expert, Alman Helvas Ali, highlighted that while the use of foreign loans for defence procurements was orientated to support the modernisation of the Indonesian Air Force (TNI-AU) in 2021 and 2022, it is interesting to assess what will be the priorities for 2023. M. Ali argues that the priority for 2023 should be the Indonesian Navy (TNI AL), which is aiming to acquire FREMM frigates and Scorpene submarines, as the TNI AL has not received yet funding for its main programs.
